Waccasassa and Little Weikiva rivers in Florida

Trip Overview

Twelve members of the Marion county Aquaholics put in to enjoy a day on the water. We started at the boat ramp at the end of 326 and paddled up the Waccasassa to the junction with the little Wekiva. We went up river about 5 miles the water was clear and very shallow the river was flowing rather strong and we had to keep moving or start drifting down stream. Just past a half-sunken there is a large clearing where we stopped for lunch and a break. After running back down the Wekiva most of the group paddled up the Waccasassa for an hour or so. Two who went the farthest ran up a small rock shoal. We then returned to the boat ramp and talked about the trip and future runs for a while it was a beautiful trip. The weather was a little cold in the morning but warmed up nice as the day went on. A good time was had by all.

Accommodations:

The boat ramp is a county facility well maintained and clean.

Directions:

Take I-75 to 326 north of Ocala go west to the end of 326 (there are some twists and turns). The boat ramp is at the end of the road.
