Trip Overview

Wabash River 52 miler, Logansport, IN to Granville, IN
12 Boy Scouts and 6 adults from Troop 396 in Brownsburg, IN.

3 day trip, put in at Logansport public ramp off 4th street,

1st day: canoed 12 miles to and camped at French Post Park in Lockport.
Gauge Height: 3.2 feet. (Logansport Gauge)
Discharge: About 675 cubic feet per second.

Water was too low, ended up dragging canoes almost a mile overall. I would suggest not making this leg of the trip with levels below 4 feet gauge ht in Logansport. Trip took a total of 7 hours for 12 miles. Made same trip on May 23rd, 2009 and did scrape bottom, but did not have to drag canoes.

Second day, 19 miles from Lockport to Americus,
Camped at Wolfes Leisure Time Campground on the river in Americus.

River deeper in this section, scraped a few times, a couple canoes got stuck in the rocks a few times, but did not have to walk canoes at all. Trip took a total of 5-1/2 hours for 19 miles.

Third day, 21 miles From Americus, IN to Granville, IN.

Took out at Granville public ramp. Made great time, did not have to drag canoes. Trip took a total of 5-1/2 hours for 21 miles.

Accommodations:

Good ramp, good camping at above described places.

Fees:

No cost to launch
No fee for tent camping at French Post Park
$3 per person to camp at Wolfe's, if you are a youth group.
