Trip Overview

We (Boy Scout Troop 396, Brownsburg Indiana) are planning a 3 day trip on the Wabash. In preparation for this trip, we took a day trip from Logansport to Lockport.

We put in at a public ramp in Logansport, just off of 4th St. Nice ramp, plenty of parking. According to Google Earth, the river trip to Lockport is about 14 miles. According to my GPS, the trip was about 13 miles.

In Lockport, there is a town park (French Post Park) that has a public ramp, shelter house, plenty of parking.

The entire trip took us about 4.5 hours, including about 30 minute stop for lunch. Either way, we averaged about 3 to 3.5 miles per hour. The current was fairly brisk, and during most of the trip, the water was between 18" to 24" deep.

Our next trip planned is for July. We plan on doing this trip and adding two more days. Day two will be from Lockport to Americus, day 3 will be from Americus to West Lafayette.
