Trip Overview
Paddled the Upper Missouri river Wild &Scenic area in Montana. Began at Coal Banks Landing and canoed to Judith Landing. First day had strong head winds, but other days were very mild. Had evening thunderstorms twice, with hard rains. Day time temperature was in 70's. Besides plenty of angus cattle, saw numerous Bald eagle, ospreys, mule deer, and coyotes which serenaded us each evening and morning. River was quite shallow in places, so needed to pay attention to the channels to keep from grounding. Current was about 3mph. Great family trip as the river is easy to navigate. Established camps have SST toilets, and fire rings. Where there are no Cottonwoods for shade, there are nice shelters built by the BLM. Glad to be back in my home state.
