Trip Overview

A good mid-spring paddle of 9.1 miles. The upper third has a few short class I sections plus blow downs. The middle section features blow downs and a snowmobile bridge that must be lifted over. The lower third is winding and easy paddling to the takeout. Put-in in Cilleyville in Andover, NH and take out on Bay Road in Salisbury, NH. Scout the water level at the Lawrence Street bridge in Andover to get a sense of the water levels.

Safety Notes

The headwaters of a small river with all those attendant safety challenges. There is a lot of wood in the water so river levels will affect the severity of the sweepers, blow downs and how you navigate these hazards. Be prepared to back up to find places to get out of the water as some of the banks are steep.

Gear Notes

WE did this in in a 14' Necky Manitou and a 12' Pelican.

Conditions

as above

Portage Notes

There was one blow down that we had to carry around and one snowmobile bridge we had to lift over. Depending on water levels there might be more.
