Turtle Creek in Wisconsin

Trip Overview

Turtle Creek seems to be a little known Creek for paddlers. It begins in Delavan, WI and travels past Superior, WI. I've launched on School Section Road in Darien, WI for an 18 mile trip almost to Superior. I wouldn't recommend going further up the creek as it seems to be rather narrow and marshy. There is a park located on the creek in Superior that would make an excellent stop point. I believe the creek runs into the Rock River. I'd recommend this Creek in spring and summer. The water is crystal clear allowing you to see to the bottom in most areas. In the fall the weeds tend to grow up making it almost impossible to paddle through. The creek offers many twists and turns, some narrow passages but at certain points the creek opens up rather wide.
