Trip Overview

Driving east past the Hoover on interstate 11 to Exit 3 to Kingman, Arizona, you'll go north on a rocky dirt road that is 3 miles long. While driving to Kingman Washington Beach, you'll pass by primitive camping and bathrooms courtesy of the Lake Mead park service. The beach is an open sandy area that locals picnic and fish at. Once in the water, head west to the first gap in the hills and go south. After a short distance, you'll come to the back of the dam, with safety buoys that prevent you from entering an unsafe area where the spill was are. The trip to the dam will be a leasure 30-45 minutes of paddling. The hills are stark and beautiful as is the dam. Very easy trip, just remember sun protection and water.

Safety Notes

The government has buoys showing where not to go.

Gear Notes

Prepare for intense sun as expected in the desert.

Conditions

Very calm waters, easy trip.
