Trip Overview

Trinity River - West Fork

Dropped into the Trinity under the Handley-Ederville Rd overpass on the west side of I-820. This was a great put in spot just down from the low water dam.

The river winds around through some very quiet and deep canyons. The first bridge crossing is Precinct line which is about 4.6 miles down river. There are a few small rapids before this bridge but nothing big. The next bridge crossing is Green Belt which is 8.6 miles down stream. The take out spot was off of 157 (Collins) which was about 12 miles down stream. We pulled out under the walking bridge to our car in River Legacy Park on the north side of the Trinity just West of Collins.

Lots of great fishing spots, lots of Beavers, Hogs, Turtles and Fun! The water flow at Beach was about 800 cubic feet per second at 16.5 feet. A few Obstructions on the river but could easily paddle around them. The river was flowing about 2 mph the entire trip.

Please check river flows before entering this part of the Trinity. After any sort of rain, these narrow canyons fill fast and move fast. There are no good take-outs along the way so your on your own.

The next trip will be from Collins to North Belt Line Rd
