Tittabawassee River in Michigan

Trip Overview

My wife and I decided to take a nice winter trip where we would unlikely get dumped. We went to the Freeland Rd./M46 park in Freeland and chipped the ice away from the dock to make landing easier as we use a Delphin 15.5 and Perception 16.5 foot sea kayaks on this river. Not real easy to get out of on the ice. We then drove to the Midland County boat launch at the intersection of Saginaw Rd and Poseyville Rd.

The river was beautiful and this area, although in more of an urban area, has no homes immediately on the river for the entire 4.8 mile run. It seems as though you are in the rural areas.

We saw two bald eagles and many other birds. It was a bit windy, but a very comfortable day. We actually repeated this trip two days later. Not sure where winter has gone, but this trip was very relaxing and beautiful.
