Trip Overview

The put-in is easy with enough parking for several cars. Easy paddling with a branch off to check out the Nemasket River. Stay right for the Taunon River. It is calm water down a few miles until there is a little bit of a rapids. Follow it down the middle under the bridge and the rest of the way is calm water.

A lot of sunning turtles, a few hawks and herrons. Very quiet paddle even when passing under Rt.495 and Rt. 18. Only found one place for a quiet lunch which was several miles down river. You could overnight there. It was a nice relaxing spot.

Took out at the South St. East in E. Taunton spot. Muddy but not difficult. Parking there for several cars also.

Total trip took about 5 1/2 hours including a nice lunch break! I wish it had been later in the fall as the colors would have been awesome. Still though, this is a great paddle anytime!

Accommodations:

No facilities at the put-in or take-out. There's a nice hotel on Rt. 44 1/4 of a mile from the rotary heading towards Taunton. Or there's a hotel a few miles away from the take-out on Rt. 44. Also a KOA campground on Rt. 44 east Middleboro.

Fees:

No fees at either spot (put-in or take-out).

Directions:

Rt. 495 to exit 5, Rt 18 N. Go around rotary, and follow 18 N.
