Susquehanna evening paddle

Trip Overview

This is a state fish and game ramp, with plenty of parking. There's not much to see around this launch, just trees and the Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat, if it's docked. The river is not difficult to paddle in either direction. There was not a lot of wildlife visible, but plenty of fishing boats. If you're just looking to get out on the water and paddle, it's a good launch point. I was only out for about an hour, so there may be more interesting stuff further up/down river, but if you're looking for adventure, you should probably look elsewhere.

Safety Notes

Fishing boats tend to go by at pretty good speed. the paddlewheel boat dock is adjacent to the ramp.

Gear Notes

Since fish and game controls the ramp, you need to have the proper PFD and fishing license (if applicable)

Conditions

Light breeze. Not much current.

Portage Notes

Portage from the parking lot was less than 100'. Most of the parking is for boat trailers.
