Sugar Creek in Indiana - Weekend Trip Report

A self-supported trip created by pedaltotheweddle

Trip Overview

Plenty of parking at Crawfordsville access and have never had any issues with break ins. A parking pass for Cox Ford covered bridge can be acquired from Turkey Run park office. There are 2 liveries in this stretch of river that will work with you. Water was running at 2.5 feet at the Crawfordsville gauge and made for some fun paddling on Sugar. When the water is up this high, gravel bars are underwater and some of the camping is scant. The 16 or so miles upstream from Deer's Mill covered bridge are less scenic but offer some great fishing. From Deer's Mill down the scenery and fishing are phenomenal, but be prepared for the drunken masses on the summer weekends.
