Sudbury River in December

A self-supported trip created by fssnowshoe

Trip Overview

A late fall paddle down the Sudbury River from Saxonville to the Lincoln Canoe Access. 10.8 miles in about 3 hours. The river was very quiet. Ice along the vegetated edge but none in the main channel. The cove that leads to the Lincoln Canoe Access was iced in with 1/4" ice so we had to pull out at the mouth of the cove and drag the boats through the underbrush to the parking area. While normally a beginner trip you have to have the equipment to do this safely in cold water.

Safety Notes

The water is cold with ice accumulating along the vegetated edge. We had dry suits on.
