Trip Overview

I launched from Louis Valentino Jr. Park in Brooklyn. You can see the Statue of Liberty from there so I headed straight for it while passing the bottom of Governors Island. Near the Statue itself there is a lot of boat traffic, but the ferry and other big boats moved out of the way. On my way back the current was against me so it was harder. I planned to go straight back thru the Hudson and east river but the current was way too strong on the east river. So instead I went up the Hudson with governors Island on my right and parked my kayak at the Governors Island kayak launch to take a break. I launched north of Governers Island and went back east to the east river back down to the park is launched from.
