Trip Overview

This is a class I-II (III) rapids. Flow rate was 4660 cfs and 10.82 in height. This river is runnable anytime it's above 4.5feet. At 8 feet there is a play wave in the swimming hole in Palisades State Park.

At this level it took about 1 hour. Lower levels have taken up to 3 hours. You can also make it a shorter trip by ending in palisades state park at the swimming hole but you need a SD state park pass to get in.

A good starting point is Garretson Camp Ground; turn east onto 5th street if you are traveling highway 11. Best end point is 257th street east of highway 11 south of Garretson, SD
