Sparks Lake in Oregon

Trip Overview

Sparks Lake near Bend, Oregon in the high dessert area of the state is fantastic. The whole time you are in view of the South Sister a 10,000 ft mountain that looks down on Sparks Lake. This was Ray Atkeson favorite lake to photograph. It is quite shallow and warms up in the summer. It is a very fun paddle that is about 2-1/2 miles long with coves and places to go ashore. If you tip over it is only about 4 or 5 ft deep (yippee!!!!) and warm.
