Trip Overview
The river is a bit wider here, with only a few very narrow sections. We had to portage around 4 blowdowns, ducked under a few others and pushed over a couple more. It is a nice section of river. The Black River gauge at Tomahawk was at 4.7 ft.
At NC 41 it is a bit of a walk down to the river, along a dirt road with large puddles. The takeout is a Wildlife Boat Access area and is very nice.
Portage Notes
These were relatively easy and short portages.
