Shuh Shuh Gah to C&M

Trip Overview

We paddled a 2-day, 1-night trip from Shuh Shuh Gah Canoe Launch to C&M Canoe Rental in April of 2021. When we got to Shuh Shuh Gah canoe launch, the gate was barred and there was a sign which said it had been closed since August. We called around looking for an alternate launch point, but couldn't find one, so we unloaded our gear there, found parking elsewhere, walked back and launched at Shuh Shuh Gah anyway. After all, it's a sign, not a cop. We had no trouble launching and there was no reason we could see why the place needed to be closed and gated.

We stayed overnight with permission at a private property in Sheridan, and had a good time there.

In the morning we paddled from Sheridan to Wedron. Since it was April, there were no rental paddlers on the river. It seems like the area near Wedron gets busy with rental paddlers in the summer. Along the way we passed a property with a bunch of picnic tables out, and many signs with a confrontational tone, saying that we may stop there to picnic, but we must put money in a can. That's fine. Later, C&M charged us fifteen dollars for our three boats to disembark.

River conditions were very pleasant the whole way. There were no portages along this section. The best views were in the last third of the trip.
