Trip Overview

Shawnee Lake is located with in Shawnee State Park. It's a nice and easy 4-5 hour paddle on a lake with no powerboats, only electric motors are allowed so there are a few fishermen with those. I did see a fellow pull out a very nice pike. The lake is 451 acres, it has an unusual configuration as it is in three separate areas but you can paddle from one to another. It also has marshes with cattails, bays and coves with water lilies and two islands. We also saw plenty of waterfowl, blue herons and even a couple of mink at the waters edge. It's very nice for an afternoon paddle. We did pass a couple of other fellow canoers and kayakers enjoying the day.
