Trip Overview

My wife dropped me off at the Shannon Rd Bike Path access to Blacklick Creek just east of the Winchester Pike bridge over the creek. It was an adventurous 5 hour paddle on my isup to the Groveport Rd. Canoe Access where she picked me up. It is a beautiful stretch of creek even though it's in the city. There was a lot of wildlife this day. I saw dear and a bald eagle as well as many other birds and fish.

Safety Notes

always use caution approaching log jams. Currents are deceivingly strong and hard to discern.

Gear Notes

11' AnCheer isup

Conditions

Medium low water. There were some shallow spots i had to walk in Blacklick Creek but the sup cleared most shallows. There are a few nice chutes.

Portage Notes

Blacklick Creek is smaller and plagued with log jams that are ever changing. There is a really big one that has been there for a couple of years right after the 2 bike trail bridge. This time I went left over it but I would have done better to exit right just after the bridge and gone around that way. there's less underbrush. See pictures.
