Salt Marsh Creek in New York

Trip Overview

The beautiful Salt Marsh Creek in the big city of Brooklyn has every natural aspect that you would get in the country. The exploration is plentiful because of the various inlets, islands and water ways that belong to South Brooklyn's Marine Park, Mill Basin, Bergen Beach, and Gerritsen Beach neighborhoods.

There are a few points to take off with your kayak but my favorite is the Salt Marsh Creek located on Avenue U and East 33rd Street. You can park your car on the residential road and carry your kayak a short distance to the shore (it's about 10 yards).

Watch out for motor crafts.
Easy to moderate water conditions; you can choose your level of expertise from super easy to extremely difficult if you decide to venture into the ocean.
There are islands, the shore, and inlets galore.

Salt Marsh Creek Environmental Center has bathrooms.
