Trip Overview

The Saint Sebastian River bends through thick vegetation comprised of subtropical plants, mangroves, oaks, cypress and palms. The flow rate is slow and the river is protected from the wind, so the paddling is very easy even for a beginner.

Along the way you're likely to see many species of water fowl and birds of prey including Osprey, Sandhill Cranes, Herons, Egrets, Vultures and Bald Eagles. Turtles, alligators and wild boar may be seen sunning themselves. Otter, Raccoons, an occasional Bobcat and Manatee are seen at different times of year.

"About Kayaks" is the only kayak rental on the Saint Sebastian River. They specialize in 2-4 hour self-guided tours, featuring sit in-side and sit on-top single and tandem kayaks. The paddling is easy, going downstream with the gentle current. They supply you with kayaks, paddles, life vests and instructions.

After checking in and leaving your car at the office you will be transported to your choice of two launch sites, depending on how long a trip you'd like to take. The shorter trip is about 1 hr 45 min and the longer trip is about 3 hrs.
