Round Trip Paddle to Gleasondale and Back

Trip Overview

We put in at my new favorite launch at Ice House Landing. What makes this special is the new sick they put in. It has a boat launch cradle built in. You place your kayak in the cradle, sit down in it, and push your kayak easily into the water. No wading in muddy water, no sand it rocks grinding at the bottom of your boat, just an easy slide and your under way. The paddle up to Gleasondale took a little over two and a half hours at a leisurely Pace with a little exploration. We saw lots out turtles, several pairs of swans, a few blue heron, and some beaver or otter. There was even a chipmunk that crossed the river in front of us (he didn't say why). A couple of spots on the river are a little over grown with weeds, and some recent tree fall made passage a little challenging up near Gleasondale. Other than that and the rapids at Gleasondale Road it was an easy paddle.
