Trip Overview

Rocky Hollow is a small lake located outside of the city of Excelsior Springs, MO, about 30 minutes from Kansas City. There are no engine powered boats allowed on the lake. The best boat entry is a small gravel ramp located at the 114th St entrance.

Rocky Hollow is a very good lake for a quiet afternoon's fishing or for beginning paddlers. The water is calm without a lot of obstacles. There were a lot of cattails on the south side of the lake and trees along the bank of the north. We saw a fair amount of small bluegills as we paddled.

Accommodations:

There are two picnic shelters with port-o-potties, one on the north and one on the south side of the lake.

Fees:

There are no fees or permits required.
