Trip Overview
We dropped our kayaks at Elwell public launch, off Damon Rd in Northampton, MA at about 11AM on a Tuesday in August. The water is calm in this area and there were very few boats on the water up until the time we left at 2:30pm. I'd say it takes about 20-30min to Kayak to Rainbow Beach. The water was pretty clean with soft sand. The beach, itself, was cleaner than I expected with only 3 or 4 anchored boats. The only drawback was the steep incline at the launch making it a little challenging for me to load up the kayaks...however, I am short and don't have much leverage. Will definitely return again!
