Platte River in Missouri

Trip Overview

I took two kayaks out on this bend of the river, starting at the East ramp and paddled to the West ramp. This trip is great for beginners because there are no rapids and the only obstacles you have to watch out for are submerged trees. The water was slow moving but was high so it was still moving enough so you could float down easily. It was also wide enough through out the river so we didn't get stuck or have the path completely blocked at any time. My group enjoyed getting off at the muddy banks and creating a mud slide on the steeper banks. It was about a two hour trip for us but could have been more around an hour if we had not slowed and enjoyed the lush trees and plant life around us. I would definitely recommend this day trip for anyone!
