Pigeon River in Michigan

Trip Overview

We put in at Hemlock Park with a car spotted at Holly Rd. where it stops at the river. The first part of the trip was shallow, a little overgrown, and very buggy. After we got through the woods, the river opens up to become a little wider, deeper and slower. Wildlife was present with some woodchucks, muskrats and lots of birds!! We even had a small doe cross the river within 20 feet of us. The doe stopped and watched as we paddled by. It was pretty cool.

Overall it's a great little evening trip, took us just under 2 hours. Very easy to find with the aid of Mapquest and a sense of "lets see where this takes us."

Directions:

From U.S. 31 in Ottawa County, Michigan (between Holland and Grand Haven), take Croswell St. west to Olive Dr. then go south to park.
