Trip Overview

Paddled the Pemi from the NHH Route 175 Bridge in Woodstock to the NH Route 49 Bridge in West Campton, 11.2 miles and 3 hours 9 minutes with delay time. The river was running at 963 CFS as we launched on a sunny cool day with a North wind. We had a mishap at 4.5 miles and my partner had a swim after losing it in a CL I rapid. We recovered all gear safely and my partner had to change clothes that were brought along as they weren't wearing a dry suit. No harm but lucky. This generated a 50 minute delay before we got back on the water. We discussed the mishap and it was due to her hitting the side of the hole that's just below the ledge as opposed to going thru the middle of it as I did. Mostly quickwater though for the entire stretch at this flow level.

Safety Notes

Cold water. Some of the spots are getting shallow at this flow level. I wouldn't run this stretch below 950 CFS.

Gear Notes

2x Necky Manitou 14'

Conditions

963 CFS
