Trip Overview
Took a quick two-hour paddle on Moore Lake, which is located just north of Milford, Michigan. Accessed the DNR launch from a dirt road off Pettibone Lake Road. Room for about 10 cars and a sandy/rocky beach. Headed south then swung southeast to avoid a dam with no portage and reached the southern end of the lake. Encountered several blue heron, Canada geese, ducks and swans. Some development along the shores but otherwise plenty of maple trees which, I imagine, will look fantastic in fall. Lake is fairly shallow and a fellow paddler who was fishing said there were lots of perch, carp and bass. A nice quick paddle on Monday morning. You can extend the paddle by venturing to the northern end and up a stream that connects with Lower Pettibone Lake, but the stream gets pretty narrow in spots.
