Otter Creek in Vermont

Trip Overview

We put in above the waterfalls in downtown Vergennes. Boat launch is located right above the falls on the right side of Rte 7 going north. Large parking lot and a nice ramp leading down to the river.

We paddled upstream for about 4 1/2 miles and turned around. The day was a nice and sunny and got some what hot at times. We found shade under the large trees that are growing along the banks. There are a lot of houses at the start of the trip and start to thin out as we paddle upstream.

There are a lot of good sights along this River even thou they call it a "Creek". Nice views and a wide river. The water was cloudy and saw a few fish here and there. A few birds flying around and a few deer sighted. A lot of big maple trees growing along the riverbank which provided us the shade from the sun.

A nice quiet paddle and again a good workout for us. I think a fall paddle would be a better for those that like the fall foliage.
