Octararo Creek in Maryland

Trip Overview

This is a small section of the Octoraro creek, where it enters the Susquahanna River.

You will have a 200 to 300 foot walk into the woods to where you launch. Easy trail. The creek is to the right; the river to the left.

You must be aware of the gates opening on the Conowingo Dam for the water level will change accordingly.
It is tidal water.

Great bird watching area.

Accommodations:

Closest thing - gas station north on Rt1 about a mile.

Fees:

none; open to public state park

Directions:

on Northside The Conowingo Dam US Route 1 turn right onto Route 222 south (Susquahanna River Rd.) Approx. 1 mile on the right. Gravel Parking lot.

Launches:

Small parking area - walk approx.200 to 300 into woods on trail; muddy launch on side of creek. Not hard.
