Trip Overview

Nueces River (San Patricio to Corpus Christi)

14 miles down the Nueces River - FM 666 in San Patricio Co. south to Hazel Bazemore Park in Nueces County (Corpus Christi, TX).

The put in is under the bridge on FM 666, you can actually drive your vehicle down the bank and park in the shade of the trees in dry weather and only have to haul your kayak 50-100 ft.

There is lots of wildlife to observe and no portages! The river is very slow - very slow, water kinda feels like syrup after 10 miles but it is worth it. The trip took me 5 hrs (pulling out for lunch). About 8 miles down there is a pretty large sand bar, good for a lunch break or camping.

Hazel Bazemore Park has decent boat ramp and parking spaces, it also has picnic benches and restrooms, unfortunately no overnight camping but Labonte park is not too far away and there is always that very nice sandbar. (Labonte Park is just a few miles further down the river).
