Trip Overview

So, who would have thought. 30 minutes from Council Bluffs my wife and I embarked on a nice 3.5 hour relaxing kayak trip down the Nishnabotna River.

The trip was easy, with the Botna Bend Park ranger carrying our kayaks upstream to Avoca, IA. We spent the entire morning and early afternoon watching Blue Heron's and other birds as we gently paddled down this pretty river.

The recent rains made portage a little muddy, but the refreshing quiet float and the chilly water, made this hot summer day one to remember.

Highly recommended. You can rent Kayaks directly from the park. Great Time.

Full Camping facilities, showers, and primitive/non-primitive camping.

$2.00 entry and $10 kayak rental for a half day
