Nashua River in Massachusetts

Trip Overview

Put in at Searstown Mall in Leominster, Ma. next to Home Depot. About 2.5 miles down stream there is an old dam that AMC book recommends portaging on the left side. This Spring I have gone through the breach in the dam twice without any problems.

The trip, if you go to Lancaster and then on to Rt. 117, is GPS measured at 12.5 miles and takes between three and three and one half hours. Better done after a rain due to shallow water along Rt. 70

We leave a truck at the cartop boat parking lot in Lancaster so we have a ride back to Leominster. It is definitely a one way paddle. You can also take out in Lancaster which cuts off about two miles of the paddle.

Directions:

Leave a vehicle at cartop boat parking in Lancaster near bridge marked "Nashua River" Continue west on Rt 117 to Rt 70 North to West on Mechanic Street to Searstown Mall to Home Depot parking lot.

Launches:

Put In at Searstown Mall in Lancaster, MA
