Musconetcong River in New Jersey

Trip Overview

Nice day to float down this section of water. Took about 50 minutes. River was the lowest that I would recommend floating it unless you like dragging bottom. USGS gage at a point below the section I floated said today was about 670 cfm and 3 feet high.

I've run this section when it was about 2 feet higher, and it was much more fun (but not recommended for beginners, couple of strainers that could get you into trouble with the fast water).

Gravel parking and rental toilet at put in; small area for parking at take out.

Directions:

From Rte 46 in Hackettstown, take Willow Grove St North which turns into Waterloo Rd (follow the signs to the hospital). Put in is a few miles on the right hand side of the road (you can see the spillway/dam). Take out is Union Cemetery across the street from Hot Bagels Abroad.
