Mouth Of The Lamoille

Trip Overview

Nice paddle at the mouth of the Lamoille River out to Great Back Bay. The fish and game access off of Rt.2 was the perfect place to put in. There is a large parking area with porto-lets, a concrete ramp, and floating dock. The dock is a little high to enter/exit a kayak. It's about a mile out to Great Back Bay and you paddle through the Sandbar National Waterfowl Preserve. We were there on a weekday and there was only one other car parked at the access and we only saw one motorboat on the Lamoille and no one out in the bay.

Conditions

On the day we were here there the wind was from the northwest and there were white caps on the north side of Rt.2 and the North Channel Bridge but the back bay and the river were quite calm and sheltered from the wind.
