Trip Overview

New to this site and have not seen a report yet for this year so I thought I would make a trip out to my favorite Kayaking spot and do a report.

I put in at the Montrose Wildlife Area boat ramp and paddled east into the lake and then cut North to get to the north side to check out some of the waterfowl I was watching. I then followed the North side of the lake back west and entered the marshlands after going under the RA bridge.

Back in the Marshlands the wind was not as big a factor as on the lake. (which is why I like Montrose so much - you can have both Lake and marshes).

Anyway back in the Marshlands, I observed more waterfowl. Went under the railroad bridge to where in previous years I had come across a group of otter. No luck on spotting them this trip, So I headed back to the take out point. I did come across 6 deer about a half mile from the take out point.

I spent about 3 hours on the water, saw plenty of wildlife and the spring colors were great.
