We launched the boat at 9:30am with a slight drizzle in the air. The water was flowing gently and kept us moving the entire time. This time of year is one of the lowest for water level but we never did hit a snag or a real low section.
We took our time and stopped along the way at several beaches along the river and enjoyed the beautiful day. I could not help but think about how little this river is used for recreation purposes. It is roughly 50 yards wide and makes for a very scenic trip. We will definitely be coming back here with friends.
While on the trip we saw several interesting points like where the Rutherford fork joins the Middle Fork and where the North Fork joins as well. These were great to see in person and provided great sand bars to take a break at.
Entire trip was 9.5 miles; watch out for the take out point - it is just on the other side of the bridge, it will sneak up on you quick.
The boat ramps were caked in mud which made the kayaks challenging to launch and recover, but the TWRA is working on correcting that.
From Hwy 22 in Dresden TN take Hwy 89 by Kountry Korner restaurant and flow several miles till you reach the river
