We paddled the lower Meherrin River in October 2022. We started at the Murfreesboro launch and took out at Shoups Landing on the Chowan River. This is a very nice section of river, relatively remote with lots of large trees. It is wide enough wind could be a challenge but luckily for us, there was almost no wind that day.
We wanted to take out at Parkers Ferry but the ferry operator told us boats were not allowed to put in or take out at the ferry. So we added a few miles to take out on the Chowan.
We hope to return to paddle some of the upstream sections.
