The sun was rising on the May River, reflections of orange red and gold skipped across the water. The tide was going out and the clams and oysters were popping and clicking the music that a new day awakes to with a sigh. Above me circled the Bluffton Town Bird a buzzard, crude sounding in name but graceful flight on the updrafts of a new day.
All around me the creatures of the river were waking and starting on their journey of life. A dolphin and her young swam with me for a stretch, frolicking and playing in the flowing river. I am headed to Mad Dog Island so that I may enjoy the creation of this new day and gather strength from all that will come and go with the tide.
