Trip Overview

You can put in at Mackeys Marina Crab Bar and Grille. This area is know to have several bald eagles nest, it also leads out into the Albermarle sound off to the left from the launch area past a couple of markers, or you can go to the right and paddle the creek Lots of cypress, birds, moss, and just a serene paddle.

Accommodations:

Full service marina store, restaurant, docks, picnic area, NO CAMPING facilities, however we use to dock our other boat there and they may allow you to primitive camp behind the main facility near the pond, could ask! Otherwise, in Plymouth 8 miles there are a couple of motels, or you could cross the bridge to Edenton and stay there, and paddle there too!

Fees:

There is a nominal fee to launch boats. They also rent out the ponton boat for creek riding!

Directions:

From Plymouth US 64 E. to highway 45 (at stop light on 45 turn right onto Mackeys Rd. drive about 6 miles to Mackeys Lumber mill, the road bears off to the left and dead ends at the marina on Mackeys Creek
