Little Manitou Lake in Saskatchewan

Trip Overview

A lake, calm, but there is a difference here. The lake is Salt, that's right look it up on the net, the only body of water like this in Canada. Think salinity of the dead sea.

I paddle here, summer days, lots of them. My boyfriend bought his first kayak here and this is where we live and paddle. I paddled Little Manitou on November 24th this year (2008) amongst the forming ice.

I paddle Little Manitou in the mornings, evenings, night times, under the full moons, under blazing summer sun. No rapids here. No waterfalls here. just peace (usually at the height of summer there might be a boat or a jet ski, maybe a sail boat).

Come and explore Little Manitou, and after kayaking, lay in the water without your boat, yes you read that right. You Float. Effortlessly! Experience that once in your life. And after the lake, soak in the heated spa mineral waters at the Manitou Mineral Spa and Hotel.

Accommodations:

several hotels, motels, inns - most are seasonal (Kay's Inn, Shady Rest, Brownes, SaltySurf to name a few)...

Fees:

pay tribute to nature by respecting it

Directions:

an hour from Saskatoon, but can access Manitou from Humbolt, MooseJaw Regina. Follow the calling in your heart.
