Trip Overview
Pretty day on the lake. The kayak access is a relatively popular and well-maintained boat ramp with large parking lot. Don't be put off by the boats putting in, however, because the best kayaking is to the left (north) of the boat launch, where there are almost no boats at all. The inlets towards the upstream (Ledge Creek) portion of the lake are very pretty. There was a pretty, shallow estuary area that we named the "rose garden" because it was like taking a stroll through someone's garden. There are lots of osprey (we paddled past at least four nests) and bald eagles, herons, and egrets. All told, we paddled about six miles total. This is a nice beginner paddle. There is a rocky/sandy beach to the right of the boat ramp that makes ingress/egress easy.Safety Notes
Boats near ramp, but most head right/south into the open lake.Trip Details
