Lake Norris Preserve - Blackwater Creek Run

A self-supported trip created by Brevard-Blythe

Trip Overview

We’ve made this run several times. Often with Boy Scout Troop #21 other times just with me and my son or a group of friends. It’s a real hidden jem. Rarely do we see anyone else while on the water and only a few folks on horseback ever notice we are camping at the county managed campsite (permit required, but easy to get). It reminds of planet Degoba, Yodas planet, from Star Wars. Check out the furthest tree in the lake, dubbed ‘dueling dragons’ for obvious reasons, it’s got a few secrets. Have fun!

Safety Notes

Watch for gators and face slappers.

Conditions

High water or low water can cause issues with felled trees

Portage Notes

Parking it easy. Small put-in area.
