Lake Huron (Port Austin) in Michigan

Trip Overview

At the tip of the thumb of Michigan is Port Austin. To the west is Caseville and to the east of Port Austin is Point aux Barques and Grindstone City.

All along the point from Port Austin to Grindstone City are some islands, great rock formations, and small cliffs and seeps. Port Austin has a light house about 1 1/2 miles out which is great to do, but you should be an intermediate to experienced to do it.

To the east of Port Austin is Flatrock Island. To the east of Port Austin is Bird Island, Turnip Rock, and Scarecrow Island by Grindstone City. You can do much of this in day trips.
