I arrived at lake airfield in wakefield va at 1:30 pm has a nice public access along by road plenty parking.gravel boat ramp along side a wooden pier to enter kayak stay on hwy 628 to gain access to public boat ramp cant miss it..nice sunny day temp 71 degrees.particularly liked the back corner of lake away from everything.peaceful and quite and serene.was able to just sit still and watch and listen to the mallard ducks and the geese.on side of lake where gazebo and walking pier is at got to watch some otters frolicking in the water.saw signs of where beavers been munching on a tree but no signs of beavers or dam on the backside of the lake.when meandering through the trees be mindful of fact that there are some stumps just below the surface .all in all really nice paddle will be back again.
