Trip Overview

We had very pleasant two hour trip on Kokosing River from Mt. Vernon memorial park down to Big pine takeout in a 16 ft. Mad River canoe. There was no one else on the water, we had the river to ourselves.

Water level was perfect for novice at 205cfs. Very important to check USGS gauge on this trip. Often river is too low at probably below 100 to 150 cfs. Few days ago water was way high.

Saw plenty of ducks and two Blue Herons. You can use bike trail to shuttle back to Mt. Vernon using only one car. if you live in central Ohio check it out. Hidden gem. Just plan ahead and check water levels.
