Trip Overview

Paddled from Elkton Boat Launch along Elk River, eastern shore, down to Welch Point. 11 miles roundtrip.

Points of interest: many small power boats/jet skis/ water skiing in area. Boating channel along west side of river, marked by buoys.

River section below marshland section is quite wide and water is subject to wind effect (chop/waves/swell)

Upper section of Elk River is quite shallow at low tide with possible mud flats exposed. Care needs to be taken to stay in the channel along the eastern shore when paddling back into the grassy/marshland area. Tide range can be about 2'

Porta potty was burnt down in July or August 2023 and had not been replaced as of August 13, 2023. Plenty of bushes & tall grass in area.
