Kayaderossersa Creek in New York

Trip Overview

Since two cars were available, we decided to put in at Kelley Park and go downstream to the takeout at Driscoll Rd. These proved to be a good decision as it would have been impossible to paddle back upstream.

The water was fairly low so we hit bottom many times and there was a fairly strong current at times. Someone along the river stated the water was lower than usual. About halfway down the five mile stretch the stream deepened and the current reduced so we actually had to start paddling.

There are no houses along the way so it made for quite a peaceful ride. Lots of trees were piled up so it looks like the water could be treacherous after a heavy rain. Someone did drown a year or so ago but it seemed more like human carelessness at fault.

I almost had wished we had parked the pickup car at Saratoga Lake and continued the entire way. Maybe on another day.

There is an approximate 600' trail from the parking lot on Driscoll to the creek which has a boardwalk part of the way so it made portaging the boats fairly easy.
