Trip Overview

River Update, August 11, 2010

FYI: Due to a million gallon oil spill, the river is closed from Marshall, Michigan almost to Kalamazoo, Michigan. Cleanup efforts are underway, but it may be months before the river is open again.

Here is the official statement from the MIDNRE:

"Warning to anglers about the Kalamazoo River: Due to the recent oil spill, the river is closed to all fishing and recreational use from Marshall down to Morrow Dam."

Another section in the Plainwell area remains closed (projected to re open December 2010) for PCB cleanup.

However other sections are still open for recreational use.
